 Guidelines and Instructions

* * * Students and Sponsoring Agencies!  Be sure to read the YoYoSA guidelines and application instructions below before completing your respective applications. Submissions that do not follow the guidelines and instructions provided cannot be accepted.  Questions may be directed via email to info@yolocf.org or by phone (530-312-0593).

The YoYoSA program is designed to promote and reward Yolo County youth volunteering with local nonprofit organizations, and encourage Yolo County nonprofits to engage with youth volunteers.  Yolo Community Foundation is proud to recognize tomorrow’s leaders in local philanthropy

YoYoSA Guidelines

•  The student volunteer must be a current high school senior residing in Yolo County who has volunteered at least 60 hours with a recognized Yolo County nonprofit organization during the junior and/or senior year(s) of high school.

•  Nonprofits must submit a copy of the agency’s IRS determination letter in order for the application to be considered.  

•  Criteria for YoYoSA student scholarship awards include demonstration of: 1) Leadership, 2) Commitment to public service, 3) Maturity, and 4) Reliability. The contribution the nonprofit makes to enhance the quality of life in Yolo County is also considered.  

•  YoYoSA student awardees will receive a $1,000 scholarship to support post-high school education, which may include college, vocational, or technical school.  A $500 grant will be awarded to the agency sponsoring each YoYoSA student scholarship winner. 

YoYoSA Application Process

1. The student and his/her sponsoring nonprofit agency supervisor must complete separate YoYoSA applications by clicking on either the "2012 Student  YoYoSA Application" link or the "2012 Agency YoYoSA Application" link on the YCF website.  

2. Yolo Community Foundation may ask selected applicants to participate in an interview.

3. Questions may be directed to info@yolocf.org.

4. All applications must be received by March 19, 2012

5. Funding decisions will be announced by April 30, 2012, and YoYoSA awardees will be recognized at a reception hosted by Yolo Community Foundation.
