Meet Mohini Jain
Mohini Jain contacted YCF
after reading about us in her local newspaper. Looking for an
opportunity to assist her community, she joined our Founders’ Circle in
October 2005 and now also serves on our Advisory Circle.
“I’ve received so much from this community that I wanted to give something back,” says Mohini. “I’ve felt for a long time that Yolo County needed a community foundation to help identify and fulfill community needs. So when I heard about YCF I was delighted.”
A resident of Davis for 28 years, Mohini has consistently used her personal and material resources to enhance the education of others.
Mohini came to the United States from India 32 years ago to pursue a Master’s degree in Biochemistry. After working as a research scientist at UC Davis, her passion for education prompted her to switch careers. She now teaches Biology at Davis High School.
As she explains, “To foster education and instill the spirit of philanthropy in youth — these two values have al ways been important to me.” In 2002, she established her own private foundation, which awards grants to students to support their educational goals.
Even in her recreational interests, Mohini concentrates on learning. Her pleasures are travel and reading. She has three children, currently pursuing their education in college or graduate school.
Through YCF’s Founders’ Circle, Mohini seeks to supplement the work of her Foundation. “I look forward to growing with YCF and becoming a part of their efforts.”
Thank you, Mohini, for your support and for the public service you exemplify!
